A very simple process...VetDepot faxed our vet with a prescription request and within a week, we had the Felimazole. VetDepot kept us well informed and up to date with emails, and the USPS tracking number they provided let us watch it happen. Their price is unbeatable anywhere on the internet, and a fraction of what we had been paying when we were getting it from our vet.

I won't spend time reviewing the product, other than to say it works effectively....everybody knows that already, and besides, there's no choice, since Felimazole is the only antithyroid drug available for cats.

Administering the pills was a rather traumatic experience for everyone involved. We found life a whole lot easier to use a pill crusher and sprinkle the powder into a very small blob of canned food. That gets gobbled up in seconds, then it's time for the main course. The manufacturer recommends against this procedure, but only because crushing it can potentially increase human exposure to the active ingredients?? Another example of lawyers trumping common sense.

It used to be said that in a retail transaction you could get two of those, but not three. The world has obviously changed. This is the industry standard medication for hyperthyroidism, the price is less than 1/3 of what my vet charged for it, and I can have it delivered in less than a week. Since I can only get to the vet on a Saturday, that qualifies as quick. Add the convenience and I'm way ahead of the game. And most importantly, Ms Kitty's T3/T4 levels are back in the normal range.

I have compared the price of this product with other online pet supply companies, and this price is one of if not the most reasonable. My cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism a few months ago when we lived in California. I purchased 5 mg Methimazole tablets from the vet's office for $.33/pill and she was taking 5 mg 2x/day. Since then, we have moved to Hawaii and my cat's thyroid levels were retested and she was found to be a little hypothyroid, so her dose was cut in half to 2.5 mg 2x/day. Because I was almost out of pills, I purchased them from my vet at a cost of $.83/5 mg pill!!! Outrageous in my opinion! Because her new dose was 2.5 mg, I had to split the pills in half, which I wasn't always good at, so I was never sure she was actually getting 2.5 mg. Also, she didn't like the bitter taste of the pills and I worried that I was hurting her little throat with the broken side of the pill. I was pretty excited to find these coated 2.5 mg pills and purchased them right away. My cat is MUCH easier to pill with these and I am so happy about that. Even with the $7/per prescription fee that my vet charges, buying these pills from Vet Depot is 25% of what my vet was charging me. Thank you!
